This Power Point Covers: "How do I receive personal revelation?"
This lesson was such a great reminder for me. Sometimes I forget that simply praying when I have a question isn't enough. When I am searching for an answer it's important to slow down, put forth effort, search and listen. The vast majority of the slides comes from "True to the Faith" under Revelation. I loved the list of things we can do in order to invite revelation into our lives. (I used this for the handout) I am excited to teach this to the girls. I am also excited to teach them how to recognize the whisperings of the spirit.
I love the talk and videos by Elder Bednar entitled "Patterns of Light" I planned on showing the video until I watched the second option "Hearing His Voice" Unfortunately, I know I won't have time for both so I chose the 2nd because I liked hearing from the youth and the challenge they present for the viewers. Either are fabulous! Watch them and pick which works best for your girls.
Slide 16 I plan on asking the girls this question and having them list answers before we proceed.
For whatever reason I decided not to include a lot of images/pictures on the slides. There was a lot of info I wanted to include and it started getting "cluttered." So , the slides are simple but the message is profound!
Have a great lesson! Jen
P.S. Sorry for being so slow this month! We had stake conference last week so I took my time. :)
This Power Point Covers: "How Do I Strengthen My Testimony?"
The handout for this lesson came straight from this New Era article by Mindy Rae Friedman. I wanted to use the handout/image from the New Era but the file online did not have a high enough resolution to print so I had to re-create it. I used the article for some of the slide content as well. I also used the article by President Eyring entitled "A Living Testimony".
This power point covers: "How can I make my prayers more meaningful?"
Another lesson that is important for all of us! I loved reading the talks and watching videos while preparing this lesson. I used "True to the Faith" as a resource. I also used this talk by Elder D. Todd Christofferson and the 2 talks in the outline by Elder Bednar.
The movie suggestion is great! It is "Daily Bread" also by Elder D. Todd Christofferson. I found another video that I loved. It is President Monson talking about prayer. You can watch it here . Either video would definitely bring the spirit.
For the handout I used the opening paragraph from the lesson outline. I thought it summed up the main message of the lesson very well.
This Power Point Covers: "Why Is It Important To Study The Scriptures?"
One of the first slides in this power point says "The principal purpose of the scriptures is to testify of Christ, helping us to come unto Him and receive eternal life." I LOVE that! It goes so well with the Youth theme for this year. It truly sums up the importance of scripture study.
The content for the slides came from "True To The Faith," and the talk by Elder Richard G. Scott in the lesson outline. I have additional quotes from conference talks and New Era articles here or there and I tried to cite those sources.
The Video is from the outline..."The Book of Mormon: Messages from Heaven." I love when the videos contain other youth speaking to youth. I think it really hits home for the girls to see people their age experiencing the same challenges they are.
The handout comes from a Mormon Ad. I LOVE the mormon ads. If you have some time check out all the different mormon ads they have about scriptures on lds.org. There is another one I love that talks about the scriptures being "Unlimited Text Messages." A cute play on words the girls could definitely relate to.
