The Young Men and Young Women general presidencies have announced that 2 Nephi 31:20 is the Mutual theme for 2016. This scripture lays the groundwork for gaining eternal life. We are invited to press forward with steadfastness, having hope and love at all times. If we will do these things, learn from the words of Christ and endure to the end we will in fact have eternal life! What an awesome promise.
I have put together an image for the theme as well as a "logo" that can be used on anything you'd like! I have also put together a "Theme Defined" poster. I did this last year and had an overwhelmingly positive response. The reason I like to define the terms in the scripture is so the youth can really understand what it is they are reciting! (It's good for us adults too!)
I thought long and hard about what image to use for "Press Forward." I used the hikers last year for "Ye That Embark..." so I didn't want to use that again. I thought what does it mean to "Press Forward"? It brings to my mind a commitment or holding tight and moving at a steady pace. These thoughts brought me to this image and the idea of pressing forward steadfastly by clinging to the rod.
The original image of the hand holding the rod came from a 2010 Mormonad entitled "Get A Grip" (I have included an 8X10 below) The picture was brilliantly taken by David Stoker and it was published in the Ensign and Liahona magazines. I thought this Mormonad was another great way to play off the 2016 theme...I love the "Get A Grip" saying.
I hope these images are helpful as you plan for Christmas gifts, New Beginnings, and many more lessons and activities in the year to come!
My ideas go along with the "2015 Theme Posters" found here on my website. The "Embark" theme is so fun and can easily be a base for your New Beginnings theme.
New Beginnings is an activity designed to introduce the upcoming Beehives and their parents to the Personal Progress program. I have included 2 awesome talks below that do a wonderful job of outlining the PP program. The first talk lists 5 reasons to LOVE Personal Progress. The 5 reasons are a fun way to introduce the importance of the PP program. I have made a little handout that you could give to the Beehives if you like. It centers around the "hiking/Adventure/Journey" theme coordinating with the 2015 scripture "O ye that embark..."
I think its fun to have some of the older girls get involved. They can help introduce each value and maybe tell a favorite goal or experience they have completed in each value. This keeps things interesting, it involves the older girls and it gives the beehives and parents an idea of what completing the goals might look like.
Here are the two AWESOME talks that you can use:
Five Reasons to Love Personal Progress - New Era Nov. 20...Why Personal Progress just might be one of the most important things you choose to do as a teenager.
What’s New in Personal Progress? - New Era Jan. 2010 - n...The Young Women Personal Progress program takes on a new look with some new additions.

I'm a 36 year old Mom of 4 kiddos, 3 boys (12, 4 & 2 years old) and one little princess (9). I have an awesome hubby who puts up with my craziness...He supports me when I spend way too much time on my YW lessons. I started this blog for fun and have been so excited to watch it grow and watch others being able to use the Power Point lessons, handouts and other ideas I have posted. Thank you for stopping by!
