This is another beautiful lesson on the Power of the Priesthood. I think this lesson does a wonderful job pointing out that the Priesthood is for ALL. Women are equal partners in this life and can access all the blessings available through the Priesthood.
I used all the included talks found in the "Come Follow Me" lesson outline. I especially liked the talk by Sister Carole Stephens of the General Relief Society and have many quotes from her throughout the slides.
The video in the outline was a great summary and visual for this lesson and if you have time I'm sure your young women would benefit from watching it. You can download the Video Here.
For the handout I wanted to use "POP" or Power Of the Priesthood. I came up with a mock airline ticket that you can attach to a blow pop sucker, a tootsie pop sucker, a bag of popcorn, a can of "pop" etc... Above you can download the image as a single ticket or I have a file with 3 tickets to a page. This can be printed as a 4 X 6 at any photo center.
I want the girls to know that they are a Priority, First Class passenger on this flight! They can take advantage of the blessings of the Priesthood every single day.
Our journey through this mortal life will be blessed immensely if we take advantage of the Power Of the Priesthood!
We all have Priority Tickets and VIP Seats! Hop aboard “POP” Airlines and enjoy the journey!
Enjoy Your Lesson!
June Lesson #2 "What Are The Keys of The Priesthood?"
June Lesson #2 This Power Point Covers: "What are the keys of the Priesthood?"
We just had a sacrament meeting with talks surrounding this topic. One of the speakers likened the keys to the priesthood to keys to a car. If you think of the priesthood as the car and priesthood keys as the keys to the car its a great analogy. Without the car keys you can't use the car. It won't start or move. Without priesthood keys the priesthood doesn't perform its purpose.
This Sunday is also Father's Day so you can easily tie in our love for Fathers when we study the priesthood. (Being sensitive of course to those girls who may not have a priesthood holder in the home)
The Video suggested in the outline "Restoration of Priesthood Keys" is a short 2 minute video. It shows Elder L. Tom Perry discussing the keys of the priesthood. It is a great short visual if you would like to use it.
The handout is designed to be printed as a 4X6 Have a great lesson! Jen
The month of June is focusing on The Priesthood and the Priesthood Keys. Appropriate since June is also Father's Day! Because all of the lessons are on the Priesthood some of the material will most likely be repeated throughout the month. I will try to keep that in mind as I put the power points together.
The slides are put together in a Question/Answer format. Sometimes it is nice to ask a question and let the girls give their answers before proceeding with answers from the lesson materials.
I used both articles from the outline as well as "True To The Faith." I have also included a couple quotes from Sister Linda Burton. The video from the lesson outline "Priesthood Blessings available to All" is a great one. I have included a slide indicating a time to show this video.
The handout quote comes from Elder Ballard's talk from the lesson outline entitled "This is My Work And My Glory" I wanted to play off the first statement "May we be WISE." Wise owls always come to mind! :)
